Pro's

- Telemetry information available on controller includes range, altitude, heading, and remaining battery power (simple bar graph for battery power).
- Includes 2MP still pictures, 720p HD video camera.
- Pretty good flight time at about 13 minutes for the "E" version (slightly less on the "S" follow me version).
- 150 grams weight. Does not require FAA registration.

Cons
- Although with very advanced features, the quadcopter also is equipped with brushed motors to minimize cost. You may need to replace a motor some day. However, as this quad also limits speed and does not have flip capability, motor durability may be greater as compared to other similar toy grade quadcopters.
- This quad is strictly for aerial video. Its GPS limits its speed and maneuvers to maintain stable gentle flying. As such, this is no "sport" quadcopter, and does not even come with a flip button (On the flip side, this is good for motor longevity ;-)
- Return to landing accuracy increases with number of satellites locked on before takeoff. But taking off with only minumum satellites can result in decreased accuracy of automatic landing (I was off several meters in this video by taking off with 8 satellites).
- Does not come with needed microSD card or card reader to record and download camera's video.

GoPro Karma Drone Review! We have been waiting for the new GoPro Drone and it has finally arrived. In this video, Jeff walks you through the the five best features and the five worst features of the Go Pro Karma. Getting into to the awesome features first - the cool thing with buying the GoPro drone is that you also get the Karma Grip included as well. The Karma Grip is great for stabilization - you get very smooth shots and there is no interruption from change of direction. Next up is the awesome preset shots the Karma offers - Orbit, Cable Cam, Reveal and Dronie. It also has the return to home feature + GPS. The GoPro Karma Quadcopter is also very portable and comes with a nifty backpack to store the drone, remote, Karma Grip and accessories. Another awesome feature is the GoPro Karma remote - super easy and intuitive to use. The controller has video game style joysticks and buttons and a touchscreen display - overall we really liked using the Karma remote. It's also compatible with existing GoPros - The Karma will work with the GoPro Hero5 Black, GoPro Hero4 Black and GoPro Hero4 Silver. It was initially supposed to work with the GoPro Hero5 Session but we aren't sure that's still the case. On the flip side, that might also be a negative because if you don't already have a compatible GoPro, the cost of the unit just increased $300. Battery life is disappointing coming in at around 15 minutes - we would recommend buying a second battery. We also feel the GoPro Karma is a little brittle. We can see it easily scratching or getting dinged up. The GoPro Karma is also not as responsive as the DJI Mavic Pro. Lastly, the connection with remote also seems to cut out at longer distances. Overall though, we really like this drone. It wouldn't be a surprise if this ended up on the list for Best Drone 2017 / Best Quadcopter 2017. In this debate between DJI Mavic Pro vs GoPro Karma, the Mavic still might have a slight leg up and is probably considered the Best Consumer Level Drone 2017 / Best Drones with Camera. Of course if you wanted to spend up a little more you could always go with the DJI Phantom. Anyways, we hoped you enjoyed this GoPro Karma Review!

Quad Drone Flight Modes and Beginner Set Up

This video explains the differences between the 4 principle flight modes used for quad drones, covering Arm, Air Mode, Angle, Horizon.

Arm(ing) enables fully acrobatic mode by default, Air Mode allows control during zero throttle flight, Angle limits tilt (between 45-50 degrees) with self-leveling, and Horizon allows for acrobatics with self-leveling. Only Angle and Horizon modes feature self-leveling.

Also briefly covered are my personal settings for a beginner pilot in the selection of these modes in Betaflight Configurator (applicable for Cleanflight Configurator as well), and how they are controlled by switches on the remote control transmitter (Taranis X9D Plus).

Arm mode is set up on an 2-position switch, and Angle, Horizon, and Air Mode set up on a 3-position switch.

My Air Mode Interpretation:
With air mode, your quad will be controllable during zero throttle flight. So you'll get nice zero throttle glides and tighter cornering. This is all achieved by allowing full PID correction during zero throttle. All of this works great when you're in the air, but there's some consequences if you're on the ground as the motors will spool up. So it's recommended that you are not in air mode for take offs and also before you land. Of course, Air mode can be turned on and off at any time, just like the other modes, and operate in conjunction with any of the other modes.

Other mentions: DJI transmitter- from trusted friends, it feels "amazing" in your hands. Also, the latency on the goggles is 130ms!! So it will be an issue for fast flying/racing

UPDATE: CAM- Is it on par with P4? Apparently the soft footage is due to not being focused. But.. We'll see, for sure, soon. Also, the mavic has a satchel bag if you buy it.

GoPro also has slight fisheye but less than previous models- DJI mavic has no audio :)
